Women Steering Business is a nonprofit alliance of civic-minded women investing in the next generation of female leaders—one steer at a time.

Since 2013, our members have come together to support young women showing livestock by raising money to purchase their animals at auction. The proceeds fund their educational and vocational goals—and the experience builds grit, confidence, and leadership from the ground up.

What We Do

Each year, Women Steering Business raises our paddles at two major events—the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo’s Junior Sale of Champions and the Tarrant County Junior Livestock Show. We show up for young women who’ve worked tirelessly to earn a place in the ring and take the next step toward their future.

Since our founding, members have made bold investments in standout animals, including:

• The Reserve Grand Champion Steer in 2015 ($150,000)

• The Reserve Grand Champion in 2016 ($170,000)

• The Grand Champion Steer in 2017 ($240,000, tying the all-time record)

Our contributions range widely—from smaller local purchases to headline-worthy champions. While average sale prices vary from year to year, they don’t tell the whole story. The impact lies in each young woman’s journey—whether she's heading to college, buying her next show steer, starting a business, or simply building the confidence to lead.
